Overview
Direct-mounted billet aluminum scope rings with a low profile and no cant
Hawkins Precision Featherweight scope rings are a direct scope mount for hunting rifles and bolt actions. They are CNC-machined from a single billet of 6061 aluminum in Low, Medium and High heights, and they ship with both 6-48 and 8-40 screws to fit any action thread pitch. Available in 1 inch and 30mm tube diameters, they mount on Remington 700, Savage 110, Stiller, Defiance and Tikka T3 actions.

Hawkins ships both fastener types so the rings mount on any action regardless of thread pitch. Shear and recoil pins come as well for actions that accommodate them.
Three heights, no built-in cant
Low 0.40 inch, Medium 0.50 inch and High 0.60 inch. The rings have no angle built in, so they mount level on multiple action lengths and in either direction if the screw holes are non-directional.
Torque to spec before mounting
Base screws torque to 22 in-lb for 8-40 and 15 in-lb for 6-48. Hawkins recommends you check your scope maker's own torque specification first.

Torque the base screws before mounting the scope. Use 22 in-lb for 8-40 fasteners and 15 in-lb for 6-48 fasteners, but check your rifle scope's torque recommendation first; some scopes specify a tighter or looser setting.

Which height do I order?
Hawkins offers Low 0.40 inch, Medium 0.50 inch and High 0.60 inch. Pick the lowest height that lets your scope's objective bell clear the barrel; a larger objective or a heavier barrel contour needs more height. No built-in cant means these rings sit level on any action, so the height you pick depends on your optic size and barrel contour alone, not on a preset cant angle.
Do I have to use both screw types?
No. Hawkins includes both 6-48 and 8-40 fasteners so the rings fit any action regardless of thread pitch. Pick whichever set matches your action, torque them to spec, and leave the other set aside or save it for another rifle.
What torque do I use?
Hawkins specifies 22 in-lb for 8-40 base screws and 15 in-lb for 6-48 base screws. Always check your rifle scope's own torque recommendation first; some scopes want tighter, some want looser. Once you have the base screws tight, torque the ring cap screws to your scope maker's spec as well.
