Overview
A 50mm scope with 100 MOA elevation and ZeroStop, calibrated at maximum power
The Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x50 is a demo unit in like-new condition, a second focal plane riflescope built to survive hard use and shoot accurately at any range. A 50 mm objective delivers strong resolution and light gathering without the weight of a 56 mm objective. The 4.2x zoom brings any target into focus, yet 5.5x at minimum is still enough magnification to stay confident at distance. ZeroStop is standard, as is the side parallax dial. The MOAR-T reticle is center-illuminated at 22x, where the marks read true for holds and dials.
5.5-22x in 15.1 inches
A 4x zoom with a 50 mm objective, delivering exit pupils from 9.1 mm at 5.5x down to 2.3 mm at 22x and a field of view from 17.5 ft to 4.7 ft at 100 yards. At 31 ounces, weight stays reasonable on most quality rifles.
MOAR-T reticle, center-illuminated
The MOAR-T floats a fine crosshair for precise aiming on distant targets. Illumination is at the centre dot only, keeping the marks visible without washing out the image. Marks read true at 22x, the calibrated power for long-range work.
Second focal plane
The reticle stays the same size across magnification, so your MOA marks hold only at 22x. This is standard in mil-spec scopes; zeroing and dials are kept simple for reliability in the field.
ZeroStop and side parallax
Dial elevation to any distance and return to a hard mechanical zero. Adjust parallax on the side turret rather than through the eyepiece, so you can dial distance and focus quickly without taking your hand off the scope.
100 MOA elevation travel
From 200 yards to well past 1,000, you have the vertical hold space for long dialing. Windage adjustment spans 60 MOA, enough for stable shots when wind matters.

Detail
Fitting it and the fine print
What is the difference between second focal plane and first?
In second focal plane (F2/SFP), the reticle sits behind the erector assembly, so it stays the same size across magnification. Your MOA marks read true only at one power, marked on the turret cap (22x for this scope). In first focal plane, the reticle scales with magnification so marks hold at any power. Second focal plane is simpler and more reliable; first focal plane suits shooters who frequently change power to hold or dial at different magnifications.
Can I dial elevation or do I hold over with the reticle?
You can dial elevation using the turret with ZeroStop, which lets you zero at a known distance and return to zero after dialing for farther targets. The MOAR-T reticle has holdover marks below the centre, usable at 22x magnification where the marks are calibrated. At other powers, a hold is less precise; dials are more reliable.
Does the center-only illumination affect the reticle marks?
The center dot illuminates; the rest of the reticle (the MOAR-T chevrons and holdover marks) stays black and is lit only by ambient light. This keeps bright backgrounds from washing out your aiming point, and the simple illumination circuit is reliable and easy to adjust by hand without electronics.
