Overview
Billet Picatinny scope rings at about 4 oz a set, with the level in the cap
Hawkins Precision Ultra Light Tactical scope rings are Picatinny rail rings for 30 mm, 34 mm, 35 mm and 36 mm scope tubes on precision and hunting rifles. Each set is machined from a single billet of 6061 T6 aluminum with a 7075 base clamp and a heat-treated stainless cross bolt, and an anti-cant bubble level comes standard in the top cap. Four heights cover a 50 mm or 56 mm objective over a standard barrel or an AR-style forend.
One billet of 6061 T6
The ring body is machined from a single billet and black anodized. Hawkins' weight chart lists a set at 3.89 oz to 4.70 oz depending on tube size and height.
7075 clamp, stainless cross bolt
The base clamp is 7075 aluminum and the cross bolt is heat-treated stainless steel. Hawkins credits that pairing for the grip on the rail and for returning to zero when the rings are remounted.
Four heights, rail to optical center
Low .885", Medium 1.0", High 1.25" and X-High 1.375", all measured from the top of the Picatinny rail to the center of the scope tube, so the number is the one you can check with a ruler.
Bubble level in the cap
Every set ships with an anti-cant level in the top cap. Center puts the bubble on top of the ring; offset moves it to the side where it is easier to see from behind the scope.
Torque figures from Hawkins
Ring cap screws 25 in-lb and base cross bolts 65 in-lb, with Hawkins' own instruction to check your scope maker's figure first.

Fitment
Will it work with your build?
Works with
- Picatinny rails on any action or chassis
- 30 mm, 34 mm, 35 mm and 36 mm scope tubes
- 50 mm objectives over a standard barrel contour in Low; 56 mm in Medium (Hawkins' guide)
- 50 mm objectives over an AR-style forend in High; 56 mm in X-High (Hawkins' guide)
Will not work with
- 1" tube scopes; there is no 1" size in this line
- Rifles without a Picatinny rail: these clamp to a rail, not to the receiver
- 30 mm tubes in X-High, or 36 mm tubes in anything but Medium with the offset level
Pick the height from your objective and forend, then torque to spec. Hawkins' guide: Low (.885") for a 50 mm objective over a standard barrel contour, Medium (1.0") for a 56 mm, High (1.25") for a 50 mm over an AR-style forend, X-High (1.375") for a 56 mm over an AR-style forend. Ring cap screws go to 25 in-lb and cross bolts to 65 in-lb, and Hawkins says to check your scope maker's own torque figure before using theirs.
Detail
Fitting it and the fine print
Which ring height do I order?
Hawkins publishes a guide by objective size and forend, and it is the sourced answer:
- Low (.885"): 50 mm objective with a standard barrel contour.
- Medium (1.0"): 56 mm objective with a standard barrel contour.
- High (1.25"): 50 mm objective with an AR-style front forend.
- X-High (1.375"): 56 mm objective with an AR-style front forend.
All four heights are measured from the top of the Picatinny rail to the center of the scope tube, so you can check the guide against your own rifle: half the outside diameter of the objective bell, plus a lens cover and anything on the forend that rises above the rail, has to fit inside that number. Not every height is made in every tube size; the spec sheet lists what exists.
What torque do I use?
Hawkins lists 25 in-lb for the ring cap screws and 65 in-lb for the base cross bolts, and says to check the torque recommendation from your rifle scope's maker before using those figures.
Center or offset level?
Both are the same anti-cant bubble level in the top cap of the ring. Center sits on top of the ring, in line with the scope. Offset sits to the side, where the bubble is easier to see from behind the scope without lifting your head. The 36 mm size is offset only. Hawkins sells replacement caps (center level, offset level or no level) and a level kit (bubble, snap rings and o-ring) for these rings separately, so a cap choice is not permanent.
