Overview

A lightweight one-piece match action built on the 737R design

The Impact Precision NBK is a one-piece short action with the recoil lug and a 20 MOA rail machined into the receiver body, same as the 737R. It drops into Remington 700 footprint stocks and chassis, takes Rem 700 triggers, and is cut for both AW and AICS magazines. The difference is the weight: an aluminum shroud and knob bring the NBK to 30.5 ounces, making it 5 ounces lighter than the all-steel 737R and ideal for hunting builds.

30.5 ounces, lighter than the 737R

Aluminum shroud and knob reduce weight without changing the receiver design or performance. Swaps the 737R's all-steel construction for a hunting-friendly package.

One piece, nothing pinned

The recoil lug and the 20 MOA Picatinny rail are part of the receiver, not bolted to it. There is no rail to work loose and no lug to shift under a barrel change.

Prefit barrels go on at home

Headspace and index are held to a tolerance that lets off-the-shelf prefit barrels go on at home. Tenon thread is 1-1/16 x 16 TPI, class 3. Compatible with 737R prefit barrels.

AW and AICS magazines

Every NBK is AW cut, so it feeds both AICS single stack and AW double stack magazines. Max cartridge overall length is 2.960 inches.

Bolt built for grit

One-piece .700 inch bolt body with two lugs, a Mini M16 extractor and a plunger ejector. Fluting on the top and sides carries dirt away while the smooth underside keeps the cycle even.

Fitment

Will it work with your build?

Works with

  • Remington 700 short action footprint stocks and chassis
  • Remington 700 pattern triggers
  • AW double stack and AICS single stack magazines
  • Prefit barrels cut to Remington 700 tenon thread, 1-1/16 x 16 TPI
  • 737R prefit barrels

Will not work with

  • BDL style hinged floorplates and BDL bottom metal

The AW cut usually needs a gunsmith to feed right. Every NBK is AW cut. That gives you both magazine patterns, and it also means feeding from a given magazine and chassis is normally tuned by a gunsmith rather than guaranteed out of the box. It will not work with BDL style hardware at all.

Detail

Fitting it and the fine print

NBK or 737R: which do I order?

Both are one-piece receivers on a Rem 700 footprint with integral rails, identical tenon and magazine compatibility, and the same design foundation. The NBK is 30.5 ounces; the 737R is 36 ounces. The NBK uses an aluminum shroud and knob; the 737R is all steel. Choose the NBK for weight savings on a hunting rifle. Choose the 737R if you want the heavier, all-steel package or if you are shopping for a specific variant option that may not be in stock on the NBK.

Which bolt face do I order?

Match the bolt face to the case head of the cartridge you will chamber. These lists are the common ones, not every cartridge that fits each face.

  • .223: .223 Rem, .223 AI, 300 Blackout, among others.
  • .308: 22 Creedmoor, 22x47 Lapua, 25x47 Lapua, 25 Creedmoor, 25 GT, 6 BR, 6 BRA, 6 Dasher, 6 GT, 6 BRX, 6x47, 6 Creedmoor, 6XC, 6 SLR, 6.5x47 Lapua, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, among others.
  • MAG/PRC: 6 SAUM, 6 PRC, 6.5 SAUM, 6.5 PRC, 7 SAUM, 300 WSM, among others.
  • ARC: 22 ARC, 6 ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 338 ARC, among others.

75 or 90 degree bolt throw?

The standard bolt lifts 90 degrees. The 75 degree option lifts 15 degrees less, which leaves more room between the bolt handle and the scope's eyepiece and is the reason to choose it on a rifle where the handle has been meeting the scope. Both use the same two-lug bolt and the same interchangeable knob. It is chosen at order time from the Bolt Throw option above.

Trigger hanger and chassis clearance

The NBK hangs a Remington 700 pattern trigger from a hanger, which makes trigger removal a field job rather than a bench job. Some chassis and stocks, the KRG line among them, may need slight machining for clearance around the hanger. Check the inlet before the first fitting.
