Overview

A 5-25x first focal plane scope in a 35mm tube with 120 MOA elevation travel

The Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25x56 is a first focal plane riflescope with a 35 mm tube, 120 MOA of elevation travel, ZeroStop, ZeroLock and side parallax adjustment. It is 15.7 inches long and weighs 30 ounces.

5-25x magnification in 15.7 inches

A 5x zoom over a 56 mm objective, delivering a field of view from 20.4 ft to 4.2 ft at 100 yards.

First focal plane reticle

The reticle scales with magnification, so the MOA marks read the same at any power. Four reticle options are available: PR2-MOA, PR1-MOA, and TMR, with illuminated variants.

120 MOA elevation travel

120 MOA of elevation and 60 MOA of windage travel in 1/4 MOA clicks, with ZeroStop to lock your zero and prevent over-rotation.

M1C3 adjustments with ZeroLock

Low-profile dials in 3 revolutions with 71.5 MOA per revolution. ZeroLock prevents accidental turret movement.

Side focus parallax

Parallax adjustment ranges from 50 yards to infinity, on the side turret for quick focus adjustment.

Detail

Fitting it and the fine print

What is the difference between first focal plane and second focal plane?

In a first focal plane (F1) scope the reticle scales with magnification, so its MOA marks read the same at any power. In a second focal plane scope the reticle stays the same size and its marks are correct at one magnification only.

Which reticle should I choose?

PR2-MOA and PR1-MOA are MOA reticles that work with 1/4 MOA clicks. TMR is a different reticle pattern. All are first focal plane. Pick based on your preferred reticle pattern and whether you want illumination; illuminated models are battery powered with automatic shutoff.

Can I dial elevation or do I hold over with the reticle?

You can do both. The elevation turret has ZeroStop, so you can dial for distance and return to your zero, and every reticle option carries holdover marks for shots where there is no time to dial.
