Overview
Silicon carbide lapping paste in two grits for rings and lugs
Red Hawk Rifles lapping compound is a silicon carbide paste for lapping scope rings, action lugs, and other high tolerance surfaces by hand. It ships in two grits, a 40 micron paste for rings and a 12.5 micron paste for lugs, raceways, and similarly tight fits, each in a 1 oz container.
Two grit options
40 micron (about 300 grit) is recommended for scope rings. 12.5 micron (about 600 grit) is recommended for action lugs, raceways, and other high tolerance parts.
1 oz per container
Each grit comes in its own 1 oz container.
Stir before use
Contents can settle and separate in storage. Mix the paste to an even consistency before lapping.
Best left to a gunsmith
This abrasive can damage a receiver or other rifle parts. It's strongly recommended that a competent gunsmith do the work.
