Overview

A one-piece match action for magnum cartridges on a Remington 700 footprint

The Impact Precision 777R is a one-piece long action with the recoil lug and a full-length 20 MOA rail machined into the receiver body. It sits on a Remington 700 long action footprint, so it drops into the stocks, chassis and triggers already on the market. It is cut for CIP length magazines, weighs 39.5 ounces, and comes in two bolt faces, right or left hand, with a 90 or 75 degree bolt throw.

One piece, nothing pinned

The recoil lug and the 20 MOA Picatinny rail are part of the receiver, not bolted to it. There is no rail to work loose and no lug to shift under a barrel change.

Prefit barrels go on at home

Headspace and index are held to a tolerance that lets off-the-shelf prefit barrels go on at home. Tenon thread is 1-1/16 x 16 TPI, class 3.

CIP length magazines

The 777R is cut for CIP length cartridges and feeds both BDL and DBM magazine styles. Max overall cartridge length is 3.825 inches.

Bolt built for grit

One-piece .700 inch bolt body with two lugs, a Mini M16 extractor and a plunger ejector. Fluting on the top and sides carries dirt away while the smooth underside keeps the cycle even.

90 or 75 degree throw

Standard lift is 90 degrees. The 75 degree option shortens the lift by 15 degrees, leaving more room between the bolt handle and the scope's eyepiece.

Impact's record

Impact states its actions have won 7 of the last 9 PRS Golden Bullets, 3 of the last 6 AG Cups, both IPRF Centerfire World Championships, and more two-day PRS matches since 2019 than all other makers combined.

Detail

Fitting it and the fine print

Which bolt face do I order?

Match the bolt face to the case head of the cartridge you will chamber. These lists are the common ones, not every cartridge that fits each face.

  • .308: 22 Creedmoor, 22x47 Lapua, 25x47 Lapua, 25 Creedmoor, 25 GT, 6 BR, 6 BRA, 6 Dasher, 6 GT, 6 BRX, 6x47, 6 Creedmoor, 6XC, 6 SLR, 6.5x47 Lapua, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, among others.
  • MAG/PRC: 6 SAUM, 6 PRC, 6.5 SAUM, 6.5 PRC, 7 PRC, 7 SAUM, 300 PRC, 300 WSM, 300 Win Mag, among others.

75 or 90 degree bolt throw?

The standard bolt lifts 90 degrees. The 75 degree option lifts 15 degrees less, which leaves more room between the bolt handle and the scope's eyepiece and is the reason to choose it on a rifle where the handle has been meeting the scope. Both use the same two-lug bolt and the same interchangeable knob. It is chosen at order time from the options above.

Trigger hanger and chassis clearance

The 777R hangs a Remington 700 pattern trigger from a hanger, which makes trigger removal a field job rather than a bench job. Some chassis and stocks, the KRG line among them, may need slight machining for clearance around the hanger. Check the inlet before the first fitting.

How the receiver is made

Each receiver is rough machined, heat treated, has its bolt races cut by electric discharge machining, and is then finish machined, so the final dimensions are held after hardening rather than before it.
