Overview
A stainless steel custom action with an integrated recoil lug and straight bolt handle
The Zermatt Arms TL3 is a short or long action with an integrated recoil lug, straight bolt handle, controlled round feed and an enclosed mechanical ejector. It drops into Remington 700 stocks and chassis and uses the same trigger configuration. The action is stainless steel and weighs 31 ounces short action, 35 ounces long action, and ships with a 20 MOA pinned rail. It comes in three bolt faces: .223, Standard and Magnum, all compatible with AICS, CIP and AW pattern magazines.
Integrated recoil lug eliminates barrel work
The recoil lug is machined into the receiver, not added separately. The barrel installs with pillars and screws, no gunsmith lug-fitting required.
Stainless steel, 31 oz short action
The receiver is stainless steel, finished with black DLC on the receiver and bolt head and black nitride on the bolt body. Short action weighs 31 ounces complete with the rail; long action weighs 35 ounces.
Straight bolt handle for scope clearance
The bolt handle is straight, not swept, so it sits closer to the centerline and clears low-mounted scopes. The throw is 90 degrees.
Controlled round feed and enclosed ejector
A controlled-round-feed bolt with an enclosed mechanical ejector keeps the cycle smooth and feeding reliable. The ejector is not exposed.
20 MOA pinned rail integral to the receiver
The rail is machined into the receiver and pinned to the top surface. It does not require mounting screws and stays put.
Tang thickness options: trim, medium, or thick
The tang can be ordered trim, medium or thick to match your grip preference and stock inlet. Trim sits shallow; thick takes up more real estate.

Remington 700 feed lips not supported. The TL3 accepts AICS, AW and CIP magazines but does not use standard Remington 700 feed lips. Order magazines that match the action and verify compatibility before assembly.

Fitting it and the fine print
TL3 or Origin: which one do I need?
The TL3 and Origin are both Zermatt actions on a Remington 700 footprint, but they differ in key ways. Choose TL3 if you want an integrated recoil lug (no gunsmith work fitting a lug), a straight bolt handle (for low scope mounts), or AW magazine support. Choose Origin if you prefer a swept Rem 700-style handle, do not mind fitting a separate recoil lug, or want Rem 700 feed lips. Both offer controlled round feed and stainless steel construction.
Which bolt face do I need?
- .223 face: .223 Remington, 7.62x39 and similar small rifle calibers.
- Standard face: .308 Winchester, .243 Winchester, .260 Remington, 6.5 Creedmoor and standard rifle calibers.
- Magnum face: .300 Winchester Magnum, .338 Lapua Magnum and large magnum calibers.
Can I swap calibers with different barrels?
Yes. The TL3 has floating, interchangeable bolt heads, so you can change the head to match a new barrel. You will need the corresponding bolt head for the caliber family you are moving to.
What about tang thickness options?
The TL3 offers trim, medium and thick tang options. Trim sits shallow in the stock and means less material in your hand. Thick is the opposite. Order the thickness that matches your grip comfort and the inlet depth of your stock or chassis.
