Overview

A lightweight precision action with the Defiance guarantee, shipped with detachable scope rail

The Defiance anTi is a precision action machined from one piece of pre-hardened 416 stainless, with a 4340 chrome moly bolt made in one operation. It weighs 23.5 oz in short action with its two-piece aluminum rail fitted and carries the same guaranteed headspace as every Defiance action: +/- .001". It ships right or left hand, short, medium or long action, with a choice of 90 or 75 degree bolt throw and three bolt faces.

23.5 oz in short action, rail included

Defiance lists it at 23.5 oz short, 24 oz medium and 24.3 oz long, weighed with the standard two-piece aluminum rail. Weight is held down by the design itself, not by exotic materials that need special care.

Headspace guaranteed +/- .001 inch

The 4340 chrome moly bolt is machined from one piece in one operation, which is how Defiance holds headspace action to action rather than fitting each one individually.

Detachable 20 MOA Picatinny rail included

Mil Spec 1913 rail that mounts and detaches without tools, so you can change optics setups on the bench without a gunsmith. The rail is not part of the action weight.

90 or 75 degree bolt throw

Order the 75 degree throw for a rifle with low rings or one you run fast from the shoulder, where a 90 degree handle can contact the scope body or your hand.

Three bolt faces across all action lengths

Bolt faces of .390" (.223), .480" (.308 style) and .545" (.300 WM and RUM) let you order the anTi for whatever cartridge fits your build.

Fitment

Will it work with your build?

Works with

  • Remington 700 short and long action inlets
  • BDL hinged floorplate bottom metal
  • Centerfeed magazines: M5 AICS, HS Precision, Wyatt's Outdoor
  • Detachable AICS magazines

Will not work with

  • AW magazines (this action is cut for BDL and centerfeed only)

.545" RUM and .545" magnum cartridges are not interchangeable with .480" receivers. The magazine cut on a .480" receiver will not feed .545" cases safely. Order the receiver for the bolt face and cartridge you plan to shoot, not just the bolt face.

Detail

Fitting it and the fine print

Should I choose the anTi or the anTi X?

The anTi X has a scope rail that is cut integral into the receiver body (not detachable), and the rails are skeletonized to save weight. It is the choice when you want to build an ultra-light precision rifle and do not plan to change scopes often. The anTi has a detachable aluminum rail that you can change on the bench without tools, making it more versatile if you shoot different loads or ranges with different optics. The anTi weighs slightly less and costs less. Both carry the same Defiance guarantee and headspace tolerance.

Which bolt face and action length do I order?

Pick the bolt face by the case head of the cartridge you will chamber, then the action length that carries it:

  • .390": .223 Rem. Short action.
  • .480": standard .308 style bolt face, for .308 Win and cartridges built on its case head. Short, medium or long action.
  • .545": .300 WM, RUM, and other .545" magnum cartridges. Short action (as SAUM/PRC), medium action (as MAG/PRC), or long action as either a MAG receiver or a RUM receiver. Do not use a .545" MAG receiver with .480" cases or a .480" receiver with .545" cases.

Should I order the 75 degree or the 90 degree bolt throw?

The 90 degree throw is the standard Remington 700 lift. The 75 degree throw lifts the handle 15 degrees less, which matters in two builds: a competition rifle run fast from the shoulder, where a 90 degree handle can find your knuckles or the scope, and a weight build on low rings, where a 90 degree handle can contact the scope body. If neither applies, the 90 degree throw is the conventional choice and needs no stock or ring clearance you do not already have.

Can this ship to my door?

No. The anTi is a firearm receiver and Red Hawk Rifles transfers it only to a holder of a valid Federal Firearms License. You pick the FFL dealer who will receive it, forward a copy of their license to Red Hawk Rifles after ordering, and complete the transfer at their counter. Dealers usually charge a transfer fee; that fee, and compliance with local, state and federal law, are between you and your dealer.
