BDL hinged floorplate for custom hunting rifles

The Hawkins Precision Oberndorf BDL is a hinged floorplate bottom metal for Remington 700 pattern hunting rifles with BDL inlet stocks. It is CNC machined and features a patented cantilever spring release that will not open accidentally under recoil. It comes in Short and Long action, with both Standard and Extended magazine box configurations in Raw Aluminum or Black Anodized finish.

BDL-style hinged floorplate

A traditional drop-box design, unlike detachable magazine systems, so it maintains the handling and weight of a classic hunting rifle while using the magazine angle shooters expect.

CNC machined

Single-piece construction, lightweight and rigid. Weights are 2.5 oz for the short action and 2.6 oz for the long action.

Patented cantilever spring release

The reason this floorplate will not accidentally open under heavy recoil, and why the catch is adjustable and sits close enough to the body to avoid unintended engagement.

Raw Aluminum or Black Anodized

Verify your stock is inletted for a BDL bottom metal. The Oberndorf BDL fits BDL inlet stocks only. If your stock has an M5 inlet, you need the Hawkins Precision Oberndorf M5 instead. Check with your stockmaker if you are unsure.

Which size do I order?

Match the bottom metal to your action, not your cartridge.

  • Short action: Remington 700 short actions and short action clones.
  • Long action: Remington 700 long actions and long action clones, suitable for cartridges like .300 Win Mag and larger.

What is the difference between Standard and Extended Magazine Box?

The Standard and Extended Magazine Box options accommodate different magazine lengths in your stock's magazine well. Standard boxes are the original BDL spec; Extended boxes allow longer cartridges and magazines. Verify which your stock is inletted for before ordering, or contact Hawkins Precision and your stockmaker to confirm compatibility.

Will this fit my factory Remington 700?

Only if your stock has a BDL inlet. A stock with an M5 inlet cannot use this bottom metal. Check your stock's documentation, contact Hawkins Precision, or ask your stockmaker if you are unsure whether your stock is BDL or M5 inletted.
