  • The 6mm BR magazine is offered for the 6mm BR and family of cartridges, and are available in 12 round capacity.
  • These magazines are designed with a unique Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition design for reduced overall height compared to the industry standard.
  • The 308 based AICS magazines that we carry do not have the front binder plate.

MDT 10-round magazines are approximately ¾” shorter in height than standard AICS 10-round magazines due to MDT’s unique Double Stack to Single Feed (DSSF) transition design, allowing easier mag changes when shooting prone.

10-round magazine includes 2 internal ribs that help reduce friction between the cartridge and magazine body and provide a smooth transition from a double stack to single feed at the top of the magazine.

6MM CALIBER MAG

From testing, MDT has established that these magazines will work with the following calibers:

  • 6mm BR Norma
  • 6mm BRA
  • 6mm BRX
  • 6 mm Dasher
  • 22 BR

Additionally, through testing, MDT has found that these magazines do not work out of the box with three lug actions. We have found you can make them work with some tweaking of the feed lips.

BINDER PLATE DETAILS

  • The magazines with front binder plates are compatible with all rifles equipped with AICS-pattern bottom metal or chassis systems. The binder plate holds the cartridges back from the front of the magazines and guides them past the bottom of the feed ramp. The maximum cartridge overall length (COAL) that will fit in this magazine is 2.870”.
  • The magazines without front binder plates allow a maximum cartridge overall length of 2.960”. These are compatible with all AICS-pattern bottom metal and chassis systems, but most common actions such as Remington 700 and Savage 10/11 will require modifications to the receiver (i.e. notching out the bottom of the feed ramp) to prevent the bullet tips from catching on the bottom of the feed ramp (see photo below).

XM-3 requires these mags. The price was unmatched and so is the quality.

    Aics pattern magazine

Raymond Saft on Feb 26th 2024

They have a coating (maybe teflon) that keeps the brass from getting scratches from the feed lips. Also while it is aics pattern this mag stacks the cartridges wider so the mag is about 3/4 of an inch shorter then other aics pattern mags. Fed my 6.5 cm fine without adjusting feed lips. Only fired about 30 rounds through it so I don't know how long it will hold up.

    5 round magazine

Jeremiah Andrick on Oct 22nd 2021

I have both a 10 round and now a 5 round MDT short action magazine and there is a lot to love. The over design and manufacturing of these mags is top quality. My proof research elevation came with the 10 round magazine and for competition I can see it being useful but I ordered the 5 round for hunting. With 6.5 prc I can load 4 rounds in without issue and the magazine feeds as expected. I have noticed with 6.5 prc that if the round at the top the mag is not aligned perfectly you may have a feed error with some ammunition. I am willing to consider some kind of user error as I have only had the magazine a week. But as I am planning to hunt I want to be sure it feeds right so I don’t run into issues in the field. Will most likely buy more of these to throw in the rifle case. I only wish there was also a polymer 6.5prc mag from MDT to lighten the load even more. Thanks red hawk for the great service
