Overview
A full-size carbon fiber Remington 700 stock at about 25 oz
The Pure Precision Altitude is a layered carbon fiber stock for Remington 700 short and long actions that weighs about 25 oz in a full hunting profile. Aluminum pillars come installed, a 1" Pachmayr Decelerator pad is fitted, and the receiver area is left unpainted so it is ready to glass bed. Order it by hand, action length, BDL or M5 bottom metal inlet, barrel channel and color.
About 25 oz, full profile
Layers of carbon fiber over a lightweight fill keep a 31" stock with a 13.5" length of pull and a 1.75" wide forend at roughly 25 oz. Nothing about the profile is slimmed to get there.
Pillars in, ready to bed
Aluminum pillars are installed and the paint is removed from the receiver area at the factory, so a glass bed goes in without sanding the finish off first.
Two barrel channels
The Varmint/Sendero channel clears up to a Proof Sendero, M24 or Bartlein #13 contour. The Sporter channel takes up to a Bartlein #3B. Both are cut with the longer cylinder length of custom barrels from Proof Research and Bartlein.
Negative comb, either hand
The raised ambidextrous comb drops 1" at the front and runs 0.75" negative toward the rear, so it sits high enough for a large objective scope and slopes down and away toward the butt.
BDL or M5 inlet
Choose the BDL inlet for factory Remington floorplate bottom metal or the M5 inlet for M5 pattern detachable magazine bottom metal. The inlet is cut for oversized recoil lugs and a Wyatt's extended internal box.
Three studs on 3" centers
Two forend studs on 3" center spacing take a sling or a bipod rail, with a third stud in the butt. All are tapped into aluminum blocks rather than the carbon shell.

Will it work with your build?
Works with
- Remington 700 short action and long action receivers, right or left hand
- Remington 700 footprint clones, most with little or no modification
- BDL inlet: factory Remington floorplate bottom metal
- M5 inlet: M5 pattern detachable magazine bottom metal
- Varmint/Sendero channel: barrels up to Proof Sendero, M24 or Bartlein #13 contour
- Sporter channel: barrels up to Bartlein #3B contour
- Oversized recoil lugs and Wyatt's extended internal box magazines
Will not work with
- Tikka T3/T3x and Savage 110 actions (Pure Precision makes separate Altitude stocks for those)
- A left hand action in a right hand stock, or the reverse
- Barrels heavier than Bartlein #13 or M24 in the Varmint/Sendero channel, or heavier than Bartlein #3B in the Sporter channel
- M5 bottom metal in a BDL inlet, or a BDL floorplate in an M5 inlet
Pick the channel for the barrel you will run, not the one on the rifle today. The Sporter channel stops at a Bartlein #3B; a Sendero, M24 or #13 contour needs the Varmint/Sendero channel. Bottom metal is not included: the stock is inlet for BDL or M5 and you supply the matching unit. Stocks are oversized and ship at a flat rate; they do not qualify for free shipping.
Detail
Fitting it and the fine print
Which bottom metal inlet do I order, BDL or M5?
Order BDL if you are keeping the factory Remington hinged floorplate bottom metal. Order M5 if you are fitting M5 pattern detachable magazine bottom metal. Each inlet is cut for that footprint only, and the stock ships without bottom metal, so match the inlet to the unit you already have or are buying with it.
Which barrel channel do I need?
Two channels are offered. The Sporter channel fits contours up to a Bartlein #3B. The Varmint/Sendero channel fits up to a Proof Sendero, an M24 or a Bartlein #13. Both are cut with the longer cylinder length used on Proof Research and Bartlein custom barrels. If your barrel is heavier than a #3B, or you plan to rebarrel to a Sendero or M24 profile, order the Varmint/Sendero channel.
Does it fit a Remington 700 clone?
This stock is sold in the Remington 700 inlet. The inlet is cut for oversized recoil lugs and a Wyatt's extended internal box, and most Remington 700 footprint clones drop in with little or no modification. Pure Precision also cuts action-specific inlets for the SKLTN, Summit, Defiance Deviant and AnTi, Bighorn/Zermatt, Lone Peak Fuzion and Razor and Kelbly Atlas actions; those are available to special order rather than from stock.
Is it bedded, and what is already installed?
Aluminum pillars are installed and the receiver area is left unpainted for glass bedding, so the stock is prepared for a bed rather than bedded; the glass work is left to you or your gunsmith. Also installed: the 1" Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, two forend swivel studs on 3" centers and one butt stud, and texturing on the grip and forend. Bottom metal is not included.
