Overview

Zero creep trigger for Rem 700 clone actions, under 4 oz to 32 oz

The TriggerTech Diamond is a single stage trigger for Remington 700 clone actions, adjustable from under 4 oz to 32 oz with a zero creep break. It has no bolt release, so it is sold for Rem 700 clones that carry the release on the receiver, and it will not work on a factory Remington 700. This listing is the right hand unit in PVD black with a Traditional Curved, Flat or Pro Curved lever.

Under 4 oz to 32 oz, in clicks

Variable Rate Adjustment gives about 0.2 oz per click from under 4 oz to about 9 oz, then about 1 oz per click up to 32 oz, all from one external set screw with the supplied 5/64" Allen wrench. Clockwise adds weight. It ships set near the middle of the range.

Zero creep, under .010" overtravel

Five critical components are assembled as a matched set, and TriggerTech's own trigger scan puts the break inside 0.0025" of travel. Zero Creep Technology (sold earlier as Frictionless Release Technology) does not rely on coating, polishing or lubricating the engagement surfaces, which is the manufacturer's reason the pull stays consistent shot to shot and after thousands of rounds.

Made for clone actions, no bolt release

Developed with the K&M Shooting Team and Remington 700 clone action makers. The housing carries no bolt release, so it drops into a clone with a receiver-mounted release and is not offered for a factory Remington 700.

Three levers, one finish

Traditional Curved with vertical grooves, Flat Straight with a locator nub, or Pro Curved, which keeps the curved profile but adds a flat face for feedback on a straight-back pull. Every Diamond is PVD black.

7075 housing, 440C internals

The housing is anodized 7075 aluminum and the key components are hardened 440C stainless. The PVD black finish is a physical vapor deposition coating on the external stainless parts.

Lifetime warranty, 30 day feel guarantee

TriggerTech covers manufacturing defects for the life of the product and handles claims directly. If the zero creep break is not for you, the original purchaser can return an undamaged trigger to TriggerTech within 30 days.

Fitment

Will it work with your build?

Works with

  • Remington 700 footprint clone actions with the bolt release on the receiver
  • Right hand actions
  • Properly timed actions, where the firing pin only reaches the sear as the bolt closes

Will not work with

  • Factory Remington 700 actions: this trigger has no bolt release and TriggerTech sells it for cloned actions only
  • Left hand actions: this listing is the right hand unit
  • Untimed actions: TriggerTech says the Diamond only operates reliably on a properly timed action

Read this before ordering. The Diamond has no bolt release and will not work on a factory Remington 700 action. It is sold for Rem 700 clone actions that carry their own bolt release on the receiver, and TriggerTech says it only operates reliably on a properly timed action, so confirm timing with your action's maker before installing. The safety from your existing trigger does not transfer. Pull weights are approximate and vary between actions; a heavier than factory firing pin spring can push the pull above 32 oz.

Detail

Fitting it and the fine print

Does it fit a factory Remington 700, or only clones?

Clones only. On a factory Remington 700 the bolt release lever lives on the trigger and works the bolt catch in the receiver; the Diamond has no bolt release, so TriggerTech offers it for Remington 700 clone actions that carry their own release on the receiver. TriggerTech also says the Diamond only operates reliably on a properly timed action, where the firing pin assembly meets the trigger sear as the bolt closes rather than during the bolt throw. If you have a factory Remington 700, the TriggerTech Special ordered With Bolt Release is the one to buy instead. This listing is the standard side-safety Diamond; TriggerTech also makes a separate bottom-safety Diamond for cloned actions that need one, which is a different product.

Which lever do I order?

All three levers are PVD black and the trigger underneath is the same. Traditional Curved has the bend and vertical grooves TriggerTech uses on its hunting and everyday triggers. Flat Straight has a small locator nub and edges that are neither round nor sharp; moving your finger up or down the lever changes the effective pull. Pro Curved keeps the curved profile but has a flat face, which TriggerTech developed from Team Surgeon feedback so the shooter can feel whether the pull is straight back. It is the lever TriggerTech introduced with the Diamond for competition.

How do I adjust the pull weight, and why does mine read outside the range?

With the rifle unloaded, put the supplied 5/64" Allen wrench into the set screw on the bottom of the trigger. Clockwise increases pull weight, counter-clockwise reduces it, in clicks: about 0.2 oz per click from under 4 oz to about 9 oz, then about 1 oz per click from about 9 oz to 32 oz. Keep at least three clicks engaged so the screw cannot fall out, and repeat the safety checks in the manual before firing live ammunition. TriggerTech recommends running the trigger at or above the factory setting until you have some time on it.

The measured weight depends on three things: the firing pin spring, the engagement geometry (fixed by TriggerTech) and the adjustment spring you set. A heavier than factory firing pin spring pushes the whole range up, and TriggerTech notes that pull weight varies between actions. A gradual change of up to 6 oz or 15 percent as the parts wear in is normal; a sudden change is not, and the trigger should come out of service and go to TriggerTech.

Does it need oil, and what can damage it?

No oil. The trigger is designed to run dry, and TriggerTech asks that gun oil and cleaning products be kept away from it; if it is contaminated, flush it with lighter fluid and blow it out with compressed air rather than opening the housing. Two things TriggerTech names as damaging: a pierced primer or overpressure event, and closing the bolt on an untimed action, which hammers the cocking piece into the sear. Dry cycling an untimed action wears it faster than live rounds do, and the Diamond is sold only for properly timed actions.
