Overview

Two stage zero creep trigger for Rem 700, first stage 8 to 24 oz, second stage 8 to 32 oz

The TriggerTech Special Two Stage is a two-stage trigger for Remington 700 actions, adjustable 8 to 24 oz first stage and 8 to 32 oz second stage. It has zero creep, sub .010 inch overtravel, four points of safety including first stage lockout, and is sold with or without bolt release so it suits factory Remington 700 actions and Rem 700 clones alike. Order it with a Pro Curved or Flat lever, right hand, in PVD black.

8 to 24 oz first stage, 8 to 32 oz second stage, both adjustable

Adjust each stage independently using the external set screws on the bottom of the trigger housing with the supplied 5/64 inch Allen wrench. Each stage changes at about 1 oz per click. Clockwise adds weight. Both stages ship set near the middle of their range.

Zero creep, under .010 inch overtravel

The trigger components are assembled as a matched set. TriggerTech's Zero Creep Technology (sold earlier as Frictionless Release Technology) does not rely on coating, polishing or lubricating the engagement surfaces. That is the manufacturer's reason the break stays consistent shot to shot and after thousands of rounds.

Four safety points and first stage lockout

Built with a ticker blocker, sear blocker, first stage lockout, and first stage safety mechanism. First stage lockout means the trigger will not break if you release the first stage without pressing to the second.

7075 housing, 440C internals

The housing is anodized 7075 aluminum and the key components are hardened 440C stainless steel. PVD black is a physical vapor deposition coating on the external stainless parts.

Two lever styles, black finish

Pro Curved keeps the curved profile with a flat face for feedback on a straight-back pull, or Flat with a straight face. Both are PVD black. Right hand only.

With or without bolt release

With Bolt Release for factory Remington 700 actions; NO Bolt Release for Rem 700 clone actions that carry the release on the receiver. The choice you make at checkout must match your action.

Fitment

Will it work with your build?

Works with

  • Factory Remington 700 actions: order With Bolt Release
  • Remington 700 footprint clone actions with the bolt release in the receiver: order NO Bolt Release
  • Right hand actions: this listing is right hand only

Will not work with

  • Left hand actions: this trigger is right hand only

Read this before ordering. The safety and bolt release from your existing trigger do not transfer to this one. A factory Remington 700 needs the With Bolt Release version. If your action has its own bolt release in the receiver, order NO Bolt Release. Pull weights are approximate and vary between actions; an overweight firing pin spring can push the pull above the advertised range.

Detail

Fitting it and the fine print

Which bolt release option do I order?

With Bolt Release is for a factory Remington 700, where the bolt release lever lives on the trigger and works the bolt catch in the receiver. NO Bolt Release is for Rem 700 clone actions that carry their own release on the receiver; TriggerTech labels its no-release units for cloned actions only. If your receiver has its own bolt release lever, order NO Bolt Release. This listing is the two-stage Special; TriggerTech also makes a single-stage Special and separate single-stage and two-stage Diamond triggers, which are different products.

How do I adjust the first and second stages?

With the rifle unloaded, put the supplied 5/64 inch Allen wrench into the set screw on the bottom of the trigger housing. One screw controls the first stage, one the second stage. Clockwise increases pull weight, counter-clockwise reduces it, in clicks of about 1 oz per stage. Repeat the safety checks in the TriggerTech manual before firing live ammunition.

Why does my pull weight measure outside the advertised range?

Pull weight on a Remington 700 is affected by the firing pin spring. An overweight or aftermarket heavy spring can push the total measured pull above the advertised range, and TriggerTech notes that pull weight varies between actions.

Does it need oil, and what can damage it?

No oil. The trigger is designed to run dry, and TriggerTech asks that gun oil and cleaning products be kept away from it; if it is contaminated, flush it with lighter fluid and blow it out with compressed air rather than opening the housing. Two things can damage it: a pierced primer or overpressure event, and closing the bolt on an untimed action.
