Overview

First focal plane 3.6-18x50 with 140 MOA elevation and illuminated reticles

The Zeiss LRP S5 3.6-18x50 is a first focal plane riflescope with a 50 mm objective, a 34 mm main tube and 140 MOA of elevation travel. Zeiss lists 90 percent light transmission. Both variants carry illuminated reticles with user-selected red or green at five intensity levels, and external ballistic turrets with Ballistic Stop technology.

3.6x to 18x magnification

A 3.6x zoom on a 50 mm objective lens. In first focal plane the reticle scales with magnification, so its MOA or MRAD marks read the same at any power.

140 MOA elevation travel

Choose the ZF-MOAi with 0.25 MOA clicks or the ZF-MRi with 0.1 MRAD clicks. External turrets have Ballistic Stop technology for fast return to your zero after dialing for distance.

Illuminated reticles with red or green

Both the #17 ZF-MOAi and #16 ZF-MRi carry illumination controlled by a rheostat, user-selectable between red and green across five intensity levels. Battery is included with your scope.

Compact 34 mm tube on 50 mm objective

The 34 mm main tube takes 34 mm rings. Weight is 32.8 oz, 13.0 inches long on a nitrogen-filled, waterproof tube (400 mbar) with LotuTec and T* coatings.

90% light transmission

SCHOTT ED glass with fluoride lens elements and ZEISS T* and LotuTec coatings deliver 90% of light to your eye, with an eye relief of 90 mm (3.54 in) and diopter adjustment from -3 to +2.

Fitment

Will it work with your build?

Works with

  • 34 mm scope rings and bases

Will not work with

  • 30 mm rings or bases (34 mm main tube requires 34 mm mounting)
  • 1-inch rings

34 mm rings. This scope takes 34 mm rings; 30 mm and 1 inch rings will not fit. Pick a ring height that clears the 50 mm objective over your barrel. Parallax adjusts from 25 m to infinity.

Fitting it and the fine print

MOAi versus MRi: which reticle should I order?

The MOAi variant (order 522265-9917-090) carries the #17 ZF-MOAi reticle, marked in MOA with a clean tree-style structure and 1 MOA hash marks. It clicks in 0.25 MOA increments with 140 MOA of elevation travel.

The MRi variant (order 522275-9916-090) carries the #16 ZF-MRi reticle, marked in MRAD with a tree-style structure and 0.2, 0.5, and 1.0 MRAD increments. It clicks in 0.1 MRAD increments with 40.7 MRAD of elevation travel.

Both carry illumination you can switch between red and green, at five intensity levels, with the battery included and rheostat control.

What ring size do I need?

The LRP S5 3.6-18x50 has a 34 mm main tube, so you need 34 mm scope rings and bases. The 50 mm objective bell is larger than many hunting scopes and requires rings or a mount with adequate clearance. Pick a ring height that clears the 50 mm objective over your barrel.

What is Ballistic Stop technology?

Zeiss's Ballistic Stop is a hard stop on the external turret set at your zero: after dialing, you turn the turret back until it stops and you are at zero.

Is the illumination battery-powered?

Yes. Zeiss lists rheostat-controlled illumination in red or green at five intensity levels, with the battery included.
