Gen 4 Fat Bastard self-timing brake, four bores, 5/8-24 or 3/4-24
The APA Gen 4 Fat Bastard is a self-timing muzzle brake with tunable top ports, 1.1 inches in diameter, 3.3 inches long and 6.4 oz per APA. We stock it in .243, .264, .30 and .338 bore, in 5/8-24 or 3/4-24 thread, in black nitride or stainless.
Self-timing, no shims
APA's self-timing design threads on and locks in place without shims or crush washers. A caliber and level line are machined on the brake face, and APA says no thread locker is needed in the top ports.
Tunable top ports
APA's Gen 4 top ports are tunable, which APA says makes this its flattest shooting and softest recoiling brake. Installation and tuning instructions are on APA's product page.

APA's guidance: the 6mm (.243) brake is for bullets of .243 inch diameter or smaller, the 6.5mm (.264) for .264 inch or smaller, and the .30 for .308 inch or smaller (APA lists 270 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum, 28 Nosler, 7.62x51, 300 Winchester Magnum, 30-06 and 308 Winchester as examples). Match the thread to your barrel.

Which bore do I order?
APA sizes the brake by bullet diameter: choose the 6mm (.243) brake for any cartridge with a .243 inch bullet or smaller, the 6.5mm (.264) for .264 inch or smaller, and the .30 for .308 inch or smaller, which APA says covers 270 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum, 28 Nosler, 7.62x51, 300 Winchester Magnum, 30-06 and 308 Winchester. The .338 bore is for .338 inch bullets.
How do I clean it?
APA recommends routine cleaning: soak the brake in a carbon cleaner such as BoreTech C4 and brush with a non-abrasive brush; heavy carbon in the second and third ports may need a 24 to 48 hour soak and a non-damaging pick.
