Overview
Self-timing four port brake, 17-4 stainless, black nitride
The Hawkins Precision Tank ST is a self-timing four port muzzle brake, made in the USA from 17-4 stainless steel with a black nitride finish. A locking collar lets you install it so it times on the barrel the same way every time, and a 3/8 inch hex opening takes a torque wrench.
Self-timing locking collar
Hawkins developed the locking collar design with Greg Young at Southern Precision Rifles. You install the brake, lock down the collar, and it times on the barrel the same way every time it is installed.
Straight four port design
Hawkins says the straight four port layout cuts recoil while producing less concussion and blowback on the shooter, and that the ports collect less carbon and need less maintenance.
3/8 inch hex, 65 to 100 in-lb
A 3/8 inch hex bit opening up front lets you torque the brake to the same value every time; Hawkins recommends 65 to 100 in-lb. With the collar, Hawkins says this gives minimal to no point of impact shift when removing and reinstalling.
Four bores, three outside diameters
The standard .990 inch outside diameter brake is offered in .243 (6mm), .264 (6.5mm), .284 (7mm) and .30 caliber with a 5/8-24 thread. Our .750 inch and .875 inch outside diameter versions are offered in .264 and .30 caliber.

How does the self-timing collar work?
Hawkins says you install the brake, then lock down the collar so the brake times on the barrel exactly the same way every time it is installed. The 3/8 inch hex opening lets you torque it to the same value each time, 65 to 100 in-lb per Hawkins, which with the collar gives minimal to no point of impact shift when the brake is removed and reinstalled.
Which size do I order?
Pick the bore that matches your barrel: .243, .264, .284 or .30 in the standard .990 inch outside diameter with a 5/8-24 thread. If you want the smaller .750 inch or .875 inch outside diameter, those are offered in .264 and .30 caliber.
