A .30 cal carbon fiber blank your gunsmith chambers to your action
The Proof Research Sendero .30 cal barrel blank is a rifled, contoured, carbon fiber wrapped barrel a gunsmith chambers, threads and fits to your bolt action. It is the blank to order when your action is not on a pre-fit list (a factory Remington 700 included) or you want a chamber Proof does not offer as a pre-fit, wildcats included. Pick a finish length from 16.5" to 26" and a twist from 1:8 to 1:10; every one leaves the factory with the same 1.200" shank and Sendero taper.
Up to 64% lighter
Proof rates its carbon fiber barrels at up to 64% lighter than steel of the same contour. On this blank that is 2 lb 6 oz at 16.5" and 3 lb 3 oz at 26", by Proof's own spec table.
Sendero taper, 1.200" shank
1.200" for the first 2.50", 1.0625" at 5.50", 1.030" at 10", then a muzzle of 0.983" (16.5") down to 0.914" (26"). Proof calls the Sendero its go-to contour for precision and for running a suppressor.
Six lengths, four twists
16.5", 18", 20", 22", 24" and 26" finish lengths with 1:8, 1:9, 1:9.4 or 1:10 twist, 13 combinations in all. 1:10 is offered at every length.
Steel where the gunsmith works
The shank and the last 0.800" at the muzzle stay bare stainless under the wrap, so the chamber, tenon threads, crown and any muzzle thread are cut in steel, not composite.
About 2.5 oz over Sendero Light
At equal length Proof puts the Sendero about 2.5 oz heavier than its Sendero Light and stiffer for it. Proof recommends the Sendero unless the stock channel is tight, the barrel is under about 22", or every ounce matters.

This is a blank, not a barrel you can install. It ships rifled and contoured with extra material at both ends (0.100" at the breech, a 0.625" stub at the muzzle) for a gunsmith to remove while chambering, threading, crowning and fitting it to your action. It will not drop into any rifle. Rifle barrels and barreled actions ship for a flat $14.95 per order regardless of quantity and do not qualify for free shipping.

Which twist rate do I order for a .30 cal?
Proof's guidance for .30 cal is 1:8, 1:9 or 1:10. A faster twist (the lower number) stabilizes heavier, longer bullets; a mid-range twist covers the widest spread of common bullets. Run the bullet you plan to shoot through a stability calculator before you order. By length: 1:10 is offered at every finish length, 1:8 at 16.5", 24" and 26", 1:9 at 22", 24" and 26", and 1:9.4 at 26" only.
Sendero or Sendero Light?
Same shank, different taper. At equal length the Sendero is about 2.5 oz heavier than the Sendero Light and stiffer, which is why Proof recommends it for precision work and for suppressors. Proof suggests the Sendero Light when every ounce matters, the barrel is under about 22", or the stock channel will not take the Sendero. The Sendero Light .30 cal blank is listed separately.
Will it fit my stock's barrel channel?
Proof's contours run larger than most factory barrels. Measure your channel against the drawing: 1.200" for the first 3.14" from the breech face, 1.0625" at 5.50", and 1.030" at 10", which Proof gives as a typical distance from the breech face to the end of the forend. Many aftermarket stocks are inletted for the Proof Sendero; a factory sporter channel usually needs opening up, which your gunsmith can do while fitting the barrel.
What does the gunsmith do, and what does Proof cover?
The blank arrives drilled, rifled, contoured and wrapped. The gunsmith chambers it, cuts the tenon thread, crowns it, removes the extra material at each end and fits it to your action; Proof says the job needs special tools and a qualified gunsmith. Break-in is shoot three, clean, shoot five, clean, with no moly-coated bullets for the first 100 rounds. Proof's limited warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for the original owner, with the warranty card on file within 30 days of delivery; because the barrel is one part of a rifle it did not assemble, Proof does not guarantee accuracy on a blank.
